Out with white

The white wood shop front at Art & Adornments has been freshly painted a new colour!  Here is the BEFORE painting starts photo.

After much deliberation, and initially choosing an incorrect shade (that was too grey), it is now almost complete with a mushroom shade that will give it years of protection from the ravages of sun, wind and rain on this busy High Street in Crick.

The local Rugby decorator, Amy of Finishing Features, has done a brilliant job of repairing the old white peeling paint and giving the original wood exterior a sound base for the hardwearing new flexible gloss.  The Old Co-op that is now Art & Adornments is having a facelift and is now looking more beautiful.

The next step in the makeover will be to replace the white plastic entrance/door and go back to an authentic wooden, highly vanished, entrance with clear (or maybe original stained glass) window panels in the door.  I so look forward to putting on the skip the frosted glass and white plastic!!  Here is an old photograph of the original Co-op shop front from many moons ago.

If it is possible, I would love to remove the annoying plastic frame/lip that you need to step over as you enter the shop, as there is a gorgeous marble slab just inside the doorway and I would like the newly installed wood door to meet the marble step – I need to take advice on this though.

Here is a picture of the makeover progress today with undercoat applied and the gloss about to go on.

The weather has behaved itself this week whilst the painting has been in progress, so I just hope tomorrow remains the same whilst the finishing gloss work is completed.
