The Big Painting Challenge

Are you watching the 2017 Big Painting Challenge, if not catch up here on BBC iplayer, as only one episode has aired so far and is shown on Sunday evenings:

This week the contestants were asked to paint a selection of ‘still life’ items.

It was interesting to hear that when still life became popular in Europe in the 17th century they either depicted mortality such as sculls and perishable foods, or the quality material pleasures in life.
